HIP PAIN

Anatomy & Physiology:

The hip is a ball-and-socket joint composed of the femoral head and acetabulum of the pelvis. It is stabilized by the joint capsule, labrum, and surrounding musculature including the glutes, piriformis, and iliopsoas. This joint bears significant load during walking, running, and standing.

Common Conditions & Injuries: Common Diagnoses:

• Hip bursitis

• Labral tears

• Piriformis syndrome

Common Causes of Injury :

• Running or cycling without proper stretching

• Falls or slips causing impact to the hip

• Sitting for prolonged periods leading to muscle tightening

• Sudden movements or awkward landings (e.g., tripping, jumping, missing a step)

• Overuse from repetitive motions (like typing, walking on uneven surfaces, or lifting heavy objects)

• Poor posture or form during exercise, work, or daily activities

• Accidents or collisions (such as car accidents, sports tackles, or falls)
