VERTIGO & DIZZINESS

Anatomy & Physiology:

Vertigo and dizziness may stem from inner ear dysfunction, cervical spine misalignment, or vestibular system imbalance. The semicircular canals in the ear detect movement and help maintain equilibrium. Cervical spine proprioceptors also play a role in spatial orientation and balance.

Common Conditions & Injuries: Common Diagnoses:

• Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)

• Cervicogenic dizziness

• Vestibular neuritis

• Post-concussion syndrome

Common Causes of Injury :

• Sudden head movements (e.g., turning in bed quickly or looking up/down abruptly)

• Whiplash or neck trauma from car accidents

• Ear infections or inner ear inflammation

• Concussions or blows to the head**
