NECK PAIN

Anatomy & Physiology:

The cervical spine supports the head and protects the spinal cord while allowing flexibility and movement. It includes seven vertebrae (C1–C7) and is surrounded by muscles, discs, ligaments, and nerves. Proper cervical alignment is essential for posture and neural function.

Common Conditions & Injuries: Common Diagnoses:

• Cervical strain or sprain

• Degenerative disc disease

• Whiplash

Common Causes of Injury :

• Poor posture while using phones or computers

• Sudden stops in car accidents (whiplash)

• Sleeping in awkward positions

• Sudden movements or awkward landings (e.g., tripping, jumping, missing a step)

• Overuse from repetitive motions (like typing, walking on uneven surfaces, or lifting heavy objects)

• Poor posture or form during exercise, work, or daily activities

• Accidents or collisions (such as car accidents, sports tackles, or falls)
